AGE AND ACQUISITION
REFLECTION:
I
think, adults are as good second language learners as children. Although
children have a biological condition for learning their first language, they
might learn Second Language as difficult as adults. It depends of the situations
and environment they are learning it. In the same way, adults might be good Second
Language learners depend of the different factors and the methods they use.
When children are learning a Second Language by instruction way in an
artificial environment, without motivation in that foreign language, obviously,
they will learn difficultly. In the other hand, when adults learn a foreign
language in an appropriate way they can success. One example, is a British
friend of mine who started to study Russian at 54 years old. He studied through
a program computer for around three years. Next, he applied for a job as an
English teacher in Russia; as a result, he got the job and traveled to Russia. Children
learn their first language easier and naturally, but learning a foreign
language without necessary factors, turns out the process difficult for them. In the other hand, when adults learn a foreign language through the correct strategies
they need, they reach their goal.
